NEW ZEALAND PROMOTERS ASSOCIATION CODE OF PRACTICE
Statement of Intent
This Code of Practice exists to provide a framework of governing values for members of the New Zealand Promoters Association (“NZPA”) and to further the confidence of the public, performing artists, and suppliers in concert promoters.
For the purposes of the code, references to ‘concert promoters’ means concert and festival promoters, and the ‘industry’ means the concert and festival promotion industry.

Principles of Conduct
NZPA Members shall maintain the highest ethical standards in the production and promotion of events by:
- Dealing fairly and honestly with the public, complying at all times with both the Fair Trading Act and Consumer Guarantees Act.
- Maintaining the highest level of integrity in dealings with suppliers, artists, managers, agents and any other party associated with the promotion and production of events.
- Acting always in a professional manner that will not bring themselves, the NZPA or the industry into disrepute.
- Refraining from any activity that will discredit the member, the member’s company, the NZPA or the industry.
- Recognising that the safety of the public and performers at events is paramount by ensuring compliance to the highest possible safety standards in the staging and management of events.
- Recognising the rights of the public to accurate and timely information in all advertising and ticket related terms and conditions.
- Ensuring all events comply with all relevant national and local laws, by-laws and regulations for concert and festival events.
- Ensuring that all reasonable measures are taken to prevent any form of racial or sexual harassment, or any form of unacceptable, threatening and abusive behaviour at events, whether by or against artists, members of the public, contractors, suppliers or staff. Such behaviours will not be tolerated.
- Ensure that hospitality services for artists and the public, such as food and beverage, hygiene and ablution facilities, are available to the highest appropriate standards.
- Ensuring the member has adequate working capital and appropriate insurance cover in order to effect the prompt and proper payment of monies owed to artists and suppliers when due.
- Promoting and embracing the diversity and cultural uniqueness of our country by fostering events that are inclusive of all peoples regardless of their national origin, race, religion, sex, marital status, age, sexual orientation or any physical or mental impairment.
- Avoiding any action that could be perceived as a conflict of interest for personal gain by informing all parties where a potential conflict of interest exists.
- Continuing to develop codes of practice to improve public safety and security, ticketing procedures, privacy and employment within the industry, and the performance of the NZPA.
- Fostering the development of the industry and themselves through regular interaction with NZPA members.
- Remembering at all times that integrity is the guiding principle of the NZPA that shall inform all their work as concert promoters.
